In a deeply personal and inspiring conversation, Danielle Young opens up about the challenges she faced growing up and how these trials led her to become the empowering coach and advocate she is today. A Master Certified Life Coach and Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher, Danielle shares her incredible journey from surviving childhood trauma to thriving in a life filled with purpose and healing.
Early Life Struggles: Growing Up in Challenging Circumstances
Danielle's story begins in a difficult environment. As an only child raised by a single mother in government housing, Danielle's early life was marked by financial instability and emotional strain. Her father was absent for much of her childhood, leaving when Danielle was just six years old after failing to keep a promise to bring her a pizza—a small, seemingly trivial event that would profoundly impact Danielle's sense of abandonment.
This emotional wound from her father’s departure left a deep mark on Danielle’s self-esteem. She struggled with anger, began acting out in school, and was eventually labeled a "terror" by teachers. Danielle attributes much of her behavior to the confusion and hurt she felt from her father’s broken promises and absence. Despite this, Danielle found solace in the presence of her grandfather and uncle, who served as positive male figures in her life.
Struggling with Bullying and Self-Esteem
As Danielle entered her teenage years, she continued to grapple with feelings of rejection and isolation. Standing out as the tallest girl in school, Danielle was frequently bullied for her appearance and her intelligence. The bullying only deepened her insecurities, especially as she struggled with finding validation from others.
Her self-esteem took a hit as she was excluded from social groups and felt the sting of being judged for her looks, especially since she often wore second-hand clothes. In her search for acceptance and validation, Danielle found herself in an abusive relationship with a man who took advantage of her vulnerabilities. The relationship was marked by red flags she ignored, driven by her desperate need for love and external validation.
Finding Strength and Healing Through Yoga and Coaching
After years of enduring emotional trauma, Danielle began to heal through yoga. She eventually became a Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher and later a Nervous System Trainer through NeuroFit. Yoga provided Danielle with tools to regulate her nervous system and began her transformation into a woman who could not only heal herself but also help others on their journeys.
In 2022, Danielle founded Inspired Action Wellness, a coaching and wellness business dedicated to helping women break free from self-doubt, emotional barriers, and negative patterns. Through her coaching, Danielle empowers women to build unshakable self-confidence and embrace their truth, allowing them to create fulfilling relationships and lives filled with purpose.
